Nice Tutorial Anthony! I looked back on your Video months ago when I ordered some Battery Wraps from FT. This video showed me that it was so very easy to rewrap my own batteries! Thanks!
I've been putting the wrap over the old wrapping. Too lazy to remove the old wrapping lol. Hair dryer works perfect the harbor freight heat gun works great too but dangerous for anyone who doesn't know how to use it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Harbor freight is awesome for cheap tools. Fine for hobbiest. Not the greatest quality so not for people who use them professionally. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Anthony Im a retired owner of a machine shop. I am a professional. Harbor freight sells cheap tools with a fantastic warrany. Most of their basic tools will handle any job if use correctly. I have tons of HF tools that I used in my shop professionally with zero problems. That said, you do need to choose the correct tool for the job. In this case, a heat gun. The harbor freight heat gun has adjustable temp settings as well as adjustable airflow. No only is it better quality that a hair dryer, its the proper tool for the job. Sure a $90 wagner digital from Home Depot is a better made gun, but you arent stripping paint from a bulldozer, you are wrapping a cell. The HF will do the job correctly, with the correct tool.
I thought the batteries would be too thick and wouldn't fit if I didn't remove the old wrap? I have just been removing the old wrap and putting on a new one.Is it OK to just put a new wrap over the old?
I hate rewrapping batteries, as when I do that top white piece always blows off when using the hairdryer, after about 10 attempts and picking the white piece off the floor, I get it, but what a PITA.
If it fits in your mod, its fine. I put my finger on the end and heat wrapper while holding the insulator in place, until the edges curl and trap it.
Haha- I hold it in place with my finger in a glove and heat that 1st- I see that you can buy the insulators and they are like a sticker to hold in place- I am going to have to get some! https://liionwholesale.com/collecti...lators-5pcs-matte-white?variant=4565393965088 next time I order batteries- I will make sure I get a few packs of these!
I think it is a very informative thread too! I saw Anthony's How to wrap your batteries videos a while ago and it gave me the confidence to buy the wraps from FT and try it myself! My old batteries look good again, and give me peace of mind with no nicks- and I am very pleased with this DIY project! My tubes actually fit tight, trying to get my battery in, but opening up the wrap and squishing in the middle of the creases helps my battery slide in better, helps loosen up the creases.. Anthony is using the clear- I bought the clear Blue, just love the look.
I've referred to your video many times just before I get ready to do mine, thanks Ant for making this famous video!!
Only mech I have that doesnt like double wrapped battery is the aria oros v2, everything else plays fine Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
